John E. Rosen
Born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina, John Rosen graduated from Porter-Gaud School in 1993. He attended the University of Virginia and earned a bachelor’s degree in U.S. History in 1997. He taught English in Brazil for a year after college and then attended the University of South Carolina Law School and Moore School of Business, where he earned his law degree and a Masters of International Business in 2004.
John has been practicing law for 15 years in Charleston with extensive experience in representing individuals and businesses in business transactions of all kinds, advising clients on corporate law matters, corporate governance, commercial real estate, land use, government law and other related issues. Having earned a master’s degree in international business, he understands the many issues facing today’s management. John also has extensive experience in business, commercial and real estate litigation. As a result, John is able to provide sound legal advice to those owning, running or managing small to medium sized businesses.
John often act as outside counsel to companies in a variety of circumstances, advising them on matters from formation and drafting of shareholder agreements and bylaws, to dissolutions and liquidations and other general corporate issues. His practice includes advising corporate clients from the business formation stage to ongoing governance matters, to contract negotiations, mergers and acquisitions (assets sales and stock sales), dissolutions and liquidations and other general corporate issues. John has drafted and negotiated all types of corporate agreements for all kinds of clients.
John is a member of the South Carolina Bar and admitted to practice in all state courts and the U.S. District Court for South Carolina. He has experience with complex business, real estate and commercial disputes ranging from shareholder and partner disputes to issues with vendors, suppliers, and a myriad of other business disputes. He also has significant experience handling corporate, shareholder and LLC member disputes, including shareholder/member oppression and share buyout and valuation litigation.
John also handles commercial real estate development matters, including land use /zoning and regulatory issues, leasing, HOA matters, and creation and governance of condominiums and community associations and similar matters.
